This Wednesday, our SMS Band took a special trip to the intermediate school to give our incoming 6th graders a sneak peek at the music magic waiting for them next year! 🎺🥁
During the recruitment concert, students had the chance to hear each instrument up close and learn about all the incredible sounds they could make! 🎵 It was an exciting opportunity to help them decide which instrument they'd like to play in band next year!

This week in Mrs. Young's class, students explored the proper and improper ways to engage with social media. We utilized a Social Media Test Drive, which provided a realistic yet structured overview of social media platforms, highlighting appropriate content to post and comment on. This experience has effectively prepared our students for the upcoming Mock Trial next week, where they will participate in the Courtroom proceedings for the Case of the Fake Social Media Profile.
Mrs. Atwood's class had a blast playing Capture the Flask to dive into some fun review of Force & Motion!
Teamwork in action! Our students came together to tackle a challenge in math and science—building a stable structure that stands tall and strong. With their creative minds and collaborative spirits, they applied problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and a little trial and error to achieve success. Watching them support and learn from each other is a reminder of the power of working together toward a common goal. Great job, everyone!
Today, Ms. Richardson's 6th grade students are enjoying a peaceful and festive atmosphere in the library, surrounded by charming Christmas decorations. Twinkling lights and colorful garlands adorn the shelves, while gentle Christmas music fills the air, adding a sense of calm. The crackling sound of a cozy fireplace on the tvs creates the perfect backdrop for those curled up with a good book. It’s the perfect holiday escape, where students can unwind and lose themselves in stories, embracing the season's warmth and tranquility.
Exploring the "Drawing of the Black Beans" in Texas History:
Students in Mr. Dodge's class are participating in a hands-on activity by drawing beans blindly, simulating the historical event to better understand the experiences and emotions of those involved.
Ms Higginbotham’s class are really enjoying reading William Shakespeare’s Hamlet and are so excited to act out their roles.
